TRAUMA REGISTRY MANAGER/DATA ANALYST

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Hospital Services Branch as a Trauma Registry Manager/Data Analyst in Fredericton.
As a member of the Central Office working team, this individual will report to the Director of Clinical Services. The primary responsibility will be the development and maintenance of a provincial trauma registry (PTR) that will support the implementation, operation, and evaluation of the New Brunswick Trauma Network.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Developing a central repository (trauma registry), training materials for coders in the Regional Health Authorities (RHAs), a data quality framework, standard reports and customizing existing templates to collect trauma data.
Developing and implementing new processes with the RHA coders, data anlaysts, and nurse reviewers to continuously improve the data.
Analyzing, interpreting and summarizing data from multiple data sources to generate reports and recommendations.
Monitoring the accuracy of standard reports and correct or modify reports as necessary.
Providing professional advice, consultation and support to the Trauma Administrative Director and RHA staff concerning the identification and capture of RHA information sources and the integration of RHA information with the PTR.
Evaluating results of Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) data quality report/indicators; prepareing briefing notes and presenting methods of improvement to coders.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must be a Certified Health Information Management (HIM) professional who has graduated from a Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) recognized Health Records/Health Information program and hold a valid Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) certificate;
Be a current member in good standing with CHIMA;
Possess a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in health information management in a hospital setting including, experience working with health information analysis, reporting tools and clinical databases such as the discharge abstract database (DAD).
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATION: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:
- a familiarity with the major Clinical Information Systems (CIS) used in New Brunswick hospitals.
- 2 years project management experience.

Salary: $51,194 to $71,474 per annum
