The Treasury Board's Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Division have an opportunity for a Departmental Information Security Officer to join our team in Fredericton. Join our dynamic, progressive team of information technology and security professionals in an environment in which you can learn, grow, and support the creation of innovative strategies such as Digital NB to help the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) transform and deliver on its business objectives.
Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), you will apply deep security skills to help establish security policies and directives, identify and mitigate cyber risks, develop and deliver solutions for directing and evaluating enterprise security practices, and to educate stakeholders.
As a key professional in the CISO team, you will:
- Understand the business direction and needs of GNB and Treasury Board;
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders inside and outside of GNB;
- Adapt quickly to meet rapid changes to business needs, technology and cyber threats; and
- Work in a helpful and solution focused environment.
- Support cybersecurity training and awareness initiatives
- Help improve the GNB cybersecurity program
In support of the CISO team you will:
- Contribute to GNB cybersecurity strategy management
- Help develop and manage GNB cybersecurity directives, policies and architectures
- Monitor and report on Treasury Board cybersecurity performance
- Perform cybersecurity services for Treasury Board including user security training and awareness, cybersecurity incident response, and business impact and threat risk assessments
- Conduct cybersecurity controls testing, including vulnerability scans and penetration testing, document gaps and propose mitigations
- Perform cybersecurity incident investigations and post-incident analysis
- Support business continuity planning
- Collaborate with Privacy Officers, Records Management, and other DISOs and professionals across GNB
- Provide cybersecurity consultation on major IT projects
- Translate technical information into business terms for executives
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: A university degree in Computer Science or other related field and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience and / or management of IT / Cyber security positions. A working knowledge of information systems security and the ability to apply this knowledge is required. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.
The candidate must be proficient in conducting information security risk assessments, creating risk assessment reports and effectively communicating risks and recommendations in business-friendly terms to stakeholders.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a customer-friendly, solutions-focused manner is essential.
Must be eligible to obtain a Canadian federal security clearance.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that have:
- formal certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CISA, CEH, CCNP, CCSE or equivalent;
- familiarity with information security management systems;
- knowledge of IT systems administration, network administration and computer programming;
- familiarity with vulnerability scanning, penetration testing and forensics investigations.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Salary:
Pay Band 6 - $64,350 to $85,644 per annum
