Learning Specialist - Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation

The Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation is part of the Strategic Partnerships unit of the Change Leadership Team. The Centre serves to capture expertise to support curricular outcomes, student achievement and teacher professional learning and is committed to sharing this with teachers and students ¿ both virtually and through experiential means. This includes real-world applications of information and communication technology (ICT), cybersecurity, digital citizenship, coding, research, computational thinking, and other areas related to digital innovation and technologies; across the K-12 spectrum.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Change Leadership, you will work as part of a team committed to leading change though innovation, research-informed practices, and application of virtual and technology tools. As a Centre Lead, you will be part of a small team committed to enhancing curriculum through experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with business and community partners..

The major responsibilities of the position are:

  • Work with EECD, school districts, and industry to develop a connected network of experts to support virtual and experiential opportunities for students and teachers across the province
  • Contribute to the development of the Centre of Excellence initiative and represent the centre on committees and working groups
  • Liaise with practitioners, community organizations, government (e.g. ONB), and other partners on related programs and opportunities. Scaffold the knowledge from these partners to be accessible to teachers and students
  • Support the development and implementation technology and ICT in the classroom. This will include support for the development of Cybersecurity 110/120 and enhanced ICT Coop programs
  • Develop and support programs for students in digital technologies education, including in career education, placement opportunities, and distance learning. This will include the development and delivery of ICT and technology related programs including CyberTitan, Cyber Defence League, and the Focus on IT (FIT) program
  • Develop and promote virtual and in-person events that connect teachers and students with practitioners and other professionals to support EECD initiatives related to digital innovation and technology
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and professional learning opportunities for teachers. This will include working with Virtual Learning team to support the Digital Learning Network (DLN) for teachers
  • Develop content for Centre of Excellence website; including lesson activities, speaker series, videos, and interactive materials to support teachers and students. Highlight the variety of ICT and digital technology careers and learning options available in New Brunswick
  • Set key performance indicators and monitor progress toward these indicators

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
  • Opportunity for remote, with minimum expected presence at Fredericton office 1 day a week 
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Need to have:

  • Master's degree in Education
  • Applicants must be a B contract teacher, with a minimum of six years' work experience in the New Brunswick school system. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of information and communication technology and related areas
  • Education or teaching experience in related subject areas

Written and spoken competence in English is required.  Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
To be successful, the candidate should be a dynamic individual who is comfortable working independently, with multiple small teams, and to collaborate and work with a range of individuals one-on-one. The candidate should also possess intermediate or higher technology skills and be enthusiastic about the use of technology in education.

  • Technology skills; including areas such as:

-Media production, collaborative tools, creation of sharable resources
-Experience with planning student-based events for multiple classes

  • Development and delivery of curricula and professional learning

Wage:
Pay Band 7:  $84,422 ¿ $102,128 annually
