The K-5 Learning Specialist for Centre of Excellence Curriculum Planning and Professional Learning is part of the Strategic Partnerships unit of the Change Leadership Team. The Centres of Excellence are led by the Change Leadership team and aim to capture community and industry expertise to support curricular outcomes, student achievement, and teacher professional learning.
Reporting to the Director of Change Leadership, you will work as part of a team committed to leading change though innovation, research-informed practices, and supporting the application of virtual and technology tools. As a curriculum planning and professional learning specialist, you will be part of a small team committed to enhancing curriculum through experiential learning and professional development opportunities in collaboration with business and community partners.
What you will do:
This position will provide leadership in expanding Centre of Excellence resources across K-5 through the development of lesson plan resources and instructional strategies. This individual will assist with flexible learning environments K-12 (including options for credits, aviation, personal interest, and high school renewal). Additionally, leading the planning of EECD system-wide PL days will be an area of responsibility.
The major responsibilities of the position are:
- With support from subject matter experts and Centre Leads, create and post lessons enriching learning in the areas of the four Centres of Excellence (Energy, Health, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Innovation)
- Add additional opportunities related to experiential and professional learning to the Centres of Excellence website Centres of Excellence (centresofexcellencenb.ca)
- Support the Centres of Excellence Leads on all K-5 curriculum requests
- Participate in all Centres of Excellence steering committee meetings to help ensure curriculum support work is guided by stakeholders
- Post CoE materials on social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
- Support flexible learning opportunities projects
- Lead the planning and execution of system-wide, EECD-led professional learning days
- Assist in the deployment and management of the online Professional Learning Hub (in partnership with NBTA and school districts)
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
- Remote work possible, with minimum expected presence at Fredericton office 1 day a week for out of town employees
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Need to have:
- Master's degree in Education and a minimum of six (6) years public teaching experience in the New Brunswick educational system
- Applicants must be a B contract teacher in the New Brunswick school system
- Knowledge of ICT and related areas is required
- The applicant should possess education or teaching experience in related subject areas
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

To be successful, the candidate should be a dynamic individual who is comfortable working independently, with multiple small teams, and to collaborate and work with a range of individuals one-on-one. The candidate should also possess intermediate or higher technology skills and be enthusiastic about the use of technology in education.
- Technology skills; including areas such as:
- Media production, collaborative tools, creation of sharable resources
- Experience with planning student-based events for multiple classes
- Development and delivery of curricula and professional learning
- Bilingual

Wage:
Pay Band 7: $84,422 - $102,128 annually
