Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

What you will do?

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join the Property Services Branch as an Assistant Director working in Fredericton.

This position within the leadership team will be responsible for:

  • providing guidance on the acquisition of properties for highway construction purposes; for property damage, personal injury and expropriation litigation claims against the Province; and for corridor management including issuance of highway usage permits and access control.
  • participating in strategic planning processes including establishing priorities and identifying opportunities for improvement,
  • contributing to operational planning and resolving critical issues,
  • supporting the director as an expert resource on property, corridor management and litigation issues.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton
  • Open office layout
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

  • Some travel within the Province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Law or other related degree.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience in property acquisition and claims management, including five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following asset:

  • Members of NBAREA (New Brunswick Association of Real Estate Appraisers) who are working towards achieving a designation in valuation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada or lawyers who have experience in property law and claims.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY: $3,247.00 to $3,928 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week
