The employees of EECD develop programs and offer services that support parents and educators and encourage learners from birth to 20 years old, to achieve lasting and transferable learning that will serve them throughout their lives.

What you will do:

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is currently seeking a coordinator for the New Brunswick Teen Apprentice Program (NBTAP) and various other trades-related activities and programs. This person will be a member of the Programmes d'études branch team.

NBTAP is a structured program through which teens aged 16 or older can become pre-apprentices and gain work experience in trades with available apprenticeship training in the province while also supporting participating employers. The successful candidate will:

  • Coordinate activities between schools, businesses, and Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification N.B. to ensure the program's ongoing success.
  • Coordinate promotion of the program among key contacts at high schools and businesses.
  • Be responsible for day-to-day oversight of program implementation.
  • Create and update the various program resources (website, guides, forms, etc.).
  • Coordinate provincial interscholastic activities related to trades.
  • Support other trades programs (e.g. Skills Canada, New Boots).
  • Assist the provincial learning specialist ¿ trades in supporting school staff assigned to trades-related duties.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton (possibility of telework in N.B.).
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.

Who you are:

You are a resourceful, organized person who builds relationships with others. You have strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills. You are able to work effectively either independently or as part of a team, and you have a talent for finding creative solutions to problems. You uphold safety standards and place importance on others' safety. You are consistently polite, professional, courteous, and kind in your interactions with others. You are concerned for the wellbeing of New Brunswickers. 

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as importantas your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • University degree or college diploma in a trades-related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Trades-related knowledge and experience.

Written and spoken competence in French and English is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge about Apprenticeship and Occupational Certification N.B. and WorkSafeNB.
  • Red Seal.

Wage:
Pay Band 5: $61,204 - $85,514 annually.
