COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENT LIBRARIAN
(Pay Band 3)
WHO WE ARE:
The Provincial Office provides administrative and operational support to 5 regional offices and 63 public libraries as part of the New Brunswick Public Library Service. It oversees the development of policies and procedures, provincial scope programs and partnerships, budgeting, staffing and the provision of centralized services such as automated library systems, information technologies, cataloguing, collections management, and online resources.
Reporting to the Head of Collections Management, you will ensure the ongoing development and management of public library collections across the province that meets local needs and provincial strategic priorities through your knowledge of automated library systems, library collections, library vendors, publishing, and literature.
You will select physical and digital materials for 63 libraries. You will participate in the development of policies and standard operating procedures. You will research new products and services and prepare recommendations. You will provide collections analysis support for inventory, weeding, and relocation projects as well as manage the conservation and preservation of collections. You will be a key liaison between libraries, regional offices and the provincial office relating to collections management.
You will work directly with staff in the provincial and regional offices, as well as with library vendors. You will participate in provincial or national committees/working groups to represent the experience and interests of New Brunswick public libraries.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

- Technical Competencies: Specialized Subject Matter Expertise and Knowledge.
- Language: Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
- Education: Master's degree in Library and/or Information Studies from an ALA accredited program. Experience working with library automated systems, e-mail, the Internet and Ms-Word is necessary.

SALARY: $48,672 to $68,042 per annum.
