Service New Brunswick is seeking individuals to join the Technology Services Division which provides technology services to all Government of New Brunswick departments and Regional Health Authorities. With over 700 employees, we form one of the largest IT employers in the province with office locations in most cities and regions. Members of the IT Security & Risk Management team will play a pivotal role in the assessment and delivery of technology and business solutions needed to meet GNB's evolving business requirements and improvement of processes. These positions are part of a multi-disciplinary and highly skilled team who play a valuable role in maintaining the security posture of GNB, and reducing cyber risks.

What will you be doing?
Cybersecurity resources are responsible to represent the IT Security & Risk Management team in a number of key roles, including Security Risk Assessment of complex IT solutions, Participation in cyber incident response activities, Mentorship of student analysts and less senior team members, Oversight of third party resources for outsourced assignments. This position represents the most senior IT Security practitioner within the organization. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Threat and risk analysis of cloud and on-premises solutions, including identification, classification, prioritization and risk treatment
- Ensuring new IT solutions follow sound IT security practices and meet all relevant legislative, policy and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of security policy, supporting directives and standards
- Adapt IT security frameworks and their controls from a variety of sources for use by GNB
- Penetration testing and vulnerability assessment as necessary as part of security validation of new IT solutions.
- Providing security solutions delivery by evaluating business requirements and suggesting secure solutions to meet those requirements
- Working with various groups within IT infrastructure and applications in the application of security technologies, processes to improve security posture and reduce IT Risk within the organization
- Researching security best practices and determining preferred approaches to security issues
- Working with development teams to provide education concerning secure coding guidelines, as well as assisting in the application of static and dynamic code analysis tools to enforce these guidelines
- Responsible for assisting other SNB business lines and departments in maintaining security compliance

ESSSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in an IT Related Field and a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive industry experience, with at least two (2) years experience working in an area of IT related to information security. Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased. In the event there are no candidates who demonstrate the essential qualifications required for the PB7 level, we may consider appointing at a lower classification.
Written and spoken competence in English is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Security Validation Testing Methodologies (e.g., ASVS) and Tools
- Vulnerability assessment
- Risk Assessment Methodologies
- Policy and Technical Standards development
- Security certifications including CISSP, CISA, SANS GIAC, etc.
- Risk and Cybersecurity framework familiarity (NIST, ISO 27001, CSA Star, etc.)
- Secure Life Cycle Development
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- On occasion, some travel throughout the province may be required.
- Some weekday evenings and weekend work hours may be required.
- Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment. The successful candidate must be willing to undertake the necessary steps to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level.
