We invite you to join the Kings Landing team! Kings Landing needs exceptional individuals to bring history to life. The museum, which first opened to the public in 1970, is well-known and admired as a unique destination due to its' thought-provoking, educational, and engaging living history programs and exhibits. The site is open from June to October for the main season and year-round for special events. It is located along the Saint John River, 35 kilometers from Fredericton, New Brunswick. The 300-acre iconic living history museum is home to nearly 90,000 artifacts as well as many significant historical buildings. We are operating an authentic living history museum that attracts, engages, enriches, and educates the people of New Brunswick. Kings Landing is focused on providing visitors with an interactive 19th century experience.

As we prepare for the exciting celebration of our upcoming 50th anniversary, Kings Landing is searching for a Visitor Services Supervisor to join our passionate team of dedicated employees. What you will do
Reporting to the Manager of Visitor Services, you will assist with the day-to-day operations and management of the visitor services areas. You will be responsible for the oversight of unionized employees in the seasonal operation of the site, including food services, retail, admissions, and customer service. You will be responsible for public relations and business development, as well as assisting in the planning and overseeing of events. The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Supervising staff and operations at the Axe and Plough Café, Gift Shop, Grant Store and Welcome Centre
- Supervising human resources including staffing, staff scheduling, training and development
- Preparing supplies orders
- Providing inventory counts and cost prices
- Receiving orders of goods
- Maintaining supply room and its storage areas according to sanitation and cleaning policies
- Ensuring staff follow Kings Landing practices and policies
- Managing and maintaining inventory and point of sale systems, cost controls
- Promoting and implementing health and safety policies and procedures as per industry standards and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Liaising with other functions of the site, attending meetings, and assisting in operations as required
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Manager of Visitor Service
Work Environment
- Stationed at Kings Landing
- Working shifts and variable hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
- Dressing in period appropriate costume during working shift
Who you are
You are someone who values exceeding work expectations and have knowledge and experience in supervising a similar enterprise. You must be a team player capable of multitasking a wide range of responsibilities related to operational management, human resources, communications, and financial management, all while respecting tight deadlines. You are organized and enjoy a challenge. You also possess strong interpersonal communication skills with flexibility and are self-motivated.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- Completion of grade 10
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a customer-service focused environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English is required
Nice to have
- Experience in restaurant and special events management
- Experience in developing and implementing service standards, business plans, and visitor safety plans
- Working knowledge of all health and safety regulations related to the restaurant and food service industry
Wage
$24.29 per hour (Artisan III)
