We invite you to join the Kings Landing team! Kings Landing's mission is to attract, engage, enrich and educate the people of New Brunswick and visitors by showcasing the well-researched adaptation of people who lived along the St. John River Valley in the 19th century.
What you will do
The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture is seeking an individual to join the Kings Landing team as a member of the maintenance team.
As a member of the team, you will be responsible for the following key activities:
- Maintain buildings and grounds by mowing lawns, raking, shoveling and digging, picking up and removing garbage
- Perform general maintenance including cleaning, painting, and scraping
- Clean equipment and perform periodic inspections and minor repairs on equipment
- Operate equipment including single axle trucks and other equipment
- Aiding with other maintenance tasks, including helping janitorial staff and carpenters.
- Maintain logbooks
- Other related tasks
Work environment
- Location: Kings Landing, Prince William NB
- Environment: Indoors / Outdoors. May work in adverse weather conditions (sun/heat, rain, snow, cold) and working from heights. The work site is noisy and dusty.
- Standard hours of work: Shift work and/or variable hours including weekends
Operational Requirements
The successful candidate must be prepared to:
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing more than 25 pounds. Bending, crouching, kneeling
- Climb ladders and work at heights
- Work outside for long periods of time
- Operate a variety of tools and equipment
- Work in accordance with specified safety procedures
- Wear all required safety equipment
- Work with minimal supervision
Who you are
To be successful in this role, you have a great respect for health and safety procedures. You are able think critically and problem-solve.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- Completion of grade 10
- A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience in labour work including the use of tools and equipment in the maintenance and construction of buildings
- Possession of a valid New Brunswick Class 5 driver's license
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Written and spoken competence in English or French
Nice to have
- Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures

Salary: $21.87 per hour
