The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual for the Education Services - Anglophone Division as a K-8 Learning Specialist for Centre of Excellence within the Digital Learning and System Excellence Branch and will work with the Centres of Excellence team.  The Centres of Excellence aim to capture community and industry expertise to support curricular outcomes, advance student achievement, support career readiness and teacher professional learning.

What you will do:
You will work as part of a team committed to leading change through innovation, research-informed practices, and supporting the application of virtual and technology tools.  As a curriculum development specialist, you will enhance curriculum through experiential learning and virtual learning by collaborating with businesses and community partners.

Reporting to the Director of Digital Learning and Design, the successful candidate will provide leadership in expanding Centre of Excellence resources across K-8 through the development of lesson plans, experiential learning opportunities, live events and more.  These learning supports will be inclusive and model play and inquiry-based learning, relevant learning, and experiential learning.

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership in expanding Centres of Excellence resources across K-8 by creating and posting lesson plan resources, hosting live events, and providing supplementary instructional strategies.
  • Add additional K-8 experiential and professional learning opportunities to the Centres of Excellence website.
  • Work with the COE leads, to enrich or enhance existing K-8 resources and opportunities for students and teachers (curriculum alignment, instructional strategies, accompanying resources, LIVE events, partner expertise, reflection tools appropriate to this level)
  • Support and coach the Centre of Excellence Leads on all K-8 curriculum request and events.
  • Support the continued implementation of the COE model by contributing to school and district communications and participating in team presentations and school visits.
  • Work with the COE team Lead to gain feedback from teachers, students, partners and district staff on K-8 materials provided through the Centres and identify areas for support at this level.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • Masters Degree in Education or a related field, with a minimum of seven (7) years of public-school teaching experience.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
  • Technology skills that are sufficient to develop content (e.g. Microsoft Office and Canva)
  • Education or teaching experience in related subject areas.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:
To be successful, the candidate should be a dynamic individual who is comfortable working
independently, with multiple small teams, and collaborate and work with individuals one-on-one.

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

  • Technology skills; such as Media production, collaborative tools, creation of sharable resources.
  • Experience with planning student-based events for multiple classes.
  • Development and delivery of curriculum and professional learning.
  • Experience teaching middle school literacy and/or numeracy.

Wage:
Pay Band 7:  $88,712 ¿ $107,328 annually.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton / remote work possible.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
