Who we are
The mandate of the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs is to provide a strategic and corporate approach to the management of relations with other governments, communities and organizations in support of the Government's vision of New Brunswick.
What you will do
The Department of Intergovernmental Affairs is seeking to staff the position of Senior Policy Advisor - Trade Policy. Reporting to the Executive Director of Trade Policy, the Senior Policy Advisor will provide advice and recommendations on positions for New Brunswick on trade policy issues.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice on international trade policy and NB-US relations issues affecting the New Brunswick economy, as well as support the provinces ongoing work to remove internal trade barriers.
Other specific duties include:
- Monitor matters related to international trade that might impact the Government of New Brunswick;
- Providing strategic advice and recommendations on emerging trade policy issues;
- Support the negotiation and implementation of international and domestic trade agreements as they pertain to the Province;
- Liaise with NB government officials across departments on trade policy issues;
- Advocate for and represent New Brunswick's positions to the federal government and to governments of the provinces, territories on trade policy related issues;
- Support the provinces participation in dispute resolution proceeding including with outside legal counsel representing the Province;
- Preparing documentation such as briefing notes; Memoranda to Executive Council (MEC); correspondence; etc.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Political Science, International Affairs, Public Administration, Economics or other related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in policy, research, planning, project management or public administration and must include experience in trade or economic policy and/or negotiations
- Written and oral competencies in English are required. Please state your language capability on your application
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Salary:
Pay Band 5 - $66,924.00 to $93,470.00 per annum or Pay Band 6 - $77,766.00 to $103,454.00 per annum
