Inspection and Enforcement NB (IENB) is the second largest provincial law enforcement agency in New Brunswick. The agency is a purposeful consolidation of all inspection and enforcement-oriented programs within Part 1 of government. The agency's program mandate includes Highway Safety Enforcement, General Investigations (Regulatory Enforcement and Safer Communities), Gaming and Casino Regulation, Conservation Enforcement, Health Protection Services and Agri-Food Services. The Agency also maintains a general public safety mandate and responds to emergencies, large scale events and supports policing. 

What you will do

IENB is a very complex and multidisciplinary organization comprised of 22 separate and independent programs, this is a unique position within GNB which provides a high degree of autonomy and routinely makes decisions under multiple programs and mandates covered by 63 provincial and federal legislation requiring independent action or collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in New Brunswick.

As a member of Inspection and Enforcement New Brunswick (IENB), the Superintendent reports directly to the Chief/Executive Director, supporting agency direction and priorities. This position has specific accountability for the Highway Safety Enforcement Section, which includes Commercial Vehicles, Off-Road Vehicles, National Safety Codes and Motor Vehicle Inspection programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible to perform duties such as, but not limited to:

  • Member of the New Brunswick Association of Chiefs of Police (NBACP)
  • Oversee the development and implementation of business plans, project charters and performance objectives for their area of responsibility as well as monitoring and reporting on progress
  • Responsible for leading, directing, supporting and mentoring upcoming leaders, including ensuring that section work plans are aligned to the strategic objectives of JPS
  • Provide strategic advice to the Minister/Deputy Minister/Assistant Deputy Minister, and Executive Director, participate in JPS Executive Management Team meetings
  • Oversee the development and monitoring of section budgets, delivering on strategic priorities as well as coach/mentor/support direct reports
  • Support the Chief/Executive Director providing day-to-day leadership and direction

Need to have (essential skills and qualifications)

  • University degree in social science or related field or graduate with a certificate from an accredited police academy or similar training institution.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible senior management experience in a law enforcement environment leading provincial or federal programs.
  • Certification in use of force and the use of firearms
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required, please state your language capability

The successful candidate must have a current secret clearance in accordance with the Government of New Brunswick Security Policy. The candidate is required to possess a valid driver's license for travel within the province.

Wage
$3,247 - 3,928 Biweekly (Pay Band 7)
